Artist's Comments

This my inked version of 'Smirking on Duty'. Enjoy! :D

My thanks to ~Anthro-morph for giving the idea of inking it. I should do ink more often. :)

Probably not, I'm not really sure how to go about doing colour.

I've not tried to colour any of my drawings in years, what kind of colouring media would you recommend?

hmmm. well I was thinking photoshop when I made the original comment, actually. it's good for not losing the original because you can copy the file and redo it a bunch of times till you learn how. before I got photoshop I practiced digital coloring on a photo program I got free with a cheep camera, called ulead.

for traditional coloring, which I have not done much of, I suggest you print out the picture from the computer, several copies of it, so you can make mistakes with no loss of the original, and experiment with whatever you own... markers color pencils paint, whatever...crayons? you can also color with a mix of all those and then fix it up digitally. Just try things and see what you like. ask for feedback and suggestions from artists on DA who you know are willing to comment whose coloring you admire. Search on DA for tutorials in the media you have available, and figure out what you like by experimenting.

look carefully at things other people have colored and notice how they have done it (color choices, direction and depth of strokes, etc) ...ask them how they did it. Immitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? many people are willing to share.

Hey, not bad. =p

If you're a serious artist, you should look into getting ink pens. :meow:

Thanks, I've just been using what I have lying around, but yes, I could do with getting some better ink pens. :)
